My oldest kids know the words to EVERY Johnny Cash song and my wife hates him. I love the man in black.

I like any music that is good,in most every style that I can understand the lyrics to. So my tastes/favorites,very much run the gamut................

Well, in their day,(and mine), Perry Como and Bing Crosby.
Today, Celine Delon, hope that's spelled right.
Heck, like Stick, I like them all but they can stick the Rap!

I could go forever on this one,but its tough to put them in order of preference,so disregard the numbers.
1 Otis Redding
2 Jim Morrison
3 Danny O Keefe (Magdalena,The Babe)
4 Steve Winwood
5 Ronny Van Zant
6 Jim Croce
7 Janis Joplin
8 Stevie Nicks
9 Layne Staley (Alice In Chains)
10 Roy Orbison
And looking at this I realized that 7-8 out of 10 of those have passed on.(Not sure about Danny O Keefe) Now I'm depressed!

Dang, Sonnie, you really dated yourself![Linked Image]

The first on my list is without a doubt Patsy Cline. I love her music. There will never be another.

I grew up listening to Johnny Cash lps on Sunday mornings, and I still listen to "The Man in Black" alot. Some of the better newer singers I like are Reba, Alan Jackson, Tracy Larwence and Garth. Of course I also like Journey, Def Lepard, ACDC, Whitesnake.....

As you can see, I can handle almost any thing. But Rap need not apply.

That is quite obvious and why it rhymes with crap, can't stand it, don't want it and see no need for it.

Gents,I wholeheartedly concur. Very little in this life, truly upsets me. However,if you want to go to blows, just play a little (C)rap. That will bring out "The Dark Side",in this kid.

Now that I've spoke my mind,I'll add a smidge to the crux of this thread.

Paul McCartney's vocals are amazing, though as mentioned prior, his politics simply SUCK. I pert near snapped the bunkhouse last year, with his "All The Best" album. Good stuff,in my estimation.

To further fuel the Political Fire,I am a Beatle's Fan. Their "1"album is simply stellar. Maybe it is because I am soooooo simplistic, that I can grasp all their lyrics?!!? I've serious miles on that CD,much to my Loving Bride's consternation(grin).

Billy Joel is another laymen, that I can listen to. His Greatest Hits CD Vol.1 & II,are very good stuff. Again,he is guilty of being understood,by me. You'll notice how exceedingly stringent my criteria is!(grin)

Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" is right up there,in the AS Good As It Gets Category. That one,is near and dear.

I'm so very guilty of loving ballads and a good story, that I can't accurately weigh the artsy-fartsy stuff. Give me something that tells a story,in a clear/concise manner and chances are I'll like it(hell,I like Johnny Horton too!). Christy Lane another.

Which brings me full circle,to The Man In Black..................

Don't know about the rest of you guys but Brook Benton had a great album out. I notice most of us like country music, when driving at night on long trips "country" makes it. When going to CO I plan to leave about 9PM and miss most of the traffic and Texas heat. Used to be a station at Del Rio Texas that blew everything of the air, haven't heard it for years. Bill Mack out of Ft Worth,(truckdrivers friend), was great also. -- no
