Today at the 4PM briefing, they announced that bears had invaded Green Mountain Falls ( Evacuated area west of COS) and they are getting DOW to convince them to leave.

Let see.. little ears, big butt, close eyes and big snout yes thats a big boar and I didn't have to lift his tail. Not a great shooting angle for smaller calibers, I would place the shot just below and behind the ear. Andy

One report says the DOW is providing bear-proof trash containers to some Green Mountain Falls residents. The idea is that they want to encourage displaced bears to move on and not hang around town.

Actually that's the exact same angle I shot my brown bear at 13 yards. I heard him coming but couldn't see him until we saw each other at the same instant. I put my 375 H&H Remington 300g A-Frame through his right shoulder (not behind it), it tore through his lungs, penetrated his left rear thigh and ended up just under the hide on the far side of his rear left leg.

Nice bear, never saw one that big when I lived in Manitou. Also much bigger than the rats that go through my trash here near pulpit rock.
Despite my user name, no I am not from Texas.........

I'm going to see if there are any black bear tags available for the fall. Didn't draw this year for elk tags, life has been too hectic, so I might just hunt elk close to home too ...

Have you shot bear in Colorado? I have purchased bear tags in units I had elk tags but never took the time to actually hunt for them.

That bear is a pig. I would bet you won't find bigger in CO very often.

Great bear. I dropped the photo into Photoshop and spruced it up a bit.
