Hello all -

I'm starting to get nervous about the availability of 300 H&H brass and so tried to form some 375 H&H brass to 300 last night. It didn't work terribly well, wrinkling where the shoulder met the case neck, but that could well have been the ham-handed press operator.

Does anybody know if you can size anything back down to 300 H&H? ANy tips or tricks to pass on?

Thanks,

tq

dumazuri,
I would pass on trying to resize anything to a 300 H&H, I would just stock up a good supply of brass if you are worried about running out someday. I have a few calibers that the brass is not made for any more. I set out and bought a couple of thousand pieces of these and have not worried about it any more.
Take care!
Marcus.

I made some more up from 375's. You can't put any lube near the shoulder and then they won't wrinkle.

Right after I made them I found out that Lock Stock and Barrel has 300 HH's !! So now I have 120 of them empty.

You can set the headspace to the shoulder when using 375's but it doesn not help case life much. That eight degree angle is not enough.

I gotta believe with a bit of work you could find a good stock somewhere. Huntington's would be the first place I looked.

Thanks Savage_99, I'll give that a try.

Re: stocking up, I have about 100 unfired cases, but I'd feel better with several hundred more (lifetime supply). Plus, IMHO this falls into the heading of 'teach a man to fish'. I don't forsee 375 H&H brass becoming scarce in the near future, so if I can figure out how to reform 375 brass to 300 I'll be set regardless of whether my supply of 300 brass gets used up or not.

Thanks everyone! What a great board this is!

tq
