I've been looking at getting this rifle for some fun shooting and occassional deer, bear etc.
I see it comes with Tikka rings and looks like built-in bases.
Are these sufficient? What do you recommend?
Is it even possible to install conetrol or Talley Lightweights with the current built-in base?
Oh, I'd like to use the leupold VX3 2.5x8x36.
Thanks!

I've used Talley lightweights on my Tikka's. They work very well.
Good luck, Steve

I wouldn't use the factory rings. The recoil pin in the ring migrated on my 300 WSM. I replaced the factory rings with Warnes that are made for Tikkas. They work well but are a little heavy.
I've now switched to the DNZ mounts as pictured previously. I've used them on several Tikkas. Only thing I don't like is the new logo on the ring caps. The old ones didn't have the logo.

Have tried nearly every combination on the 7 or 8 so Tikka's I have had.
I found the Talley light weights and the DNZ pictured above to be the best.
I am also using the standard two piece Talleys that are very strong but heavier and cost double the light weights.
I also tried both the standard and quick disconnect Warnes, both worked well but are twice the weight as the ones above.
I Found the factory rings are the lightest and worked fine if you replaced the crappy screws that come with them.

Try the burris two piece kit that fits inside the groove with the Burris Sig. Rings. I just received mine for my 300. I would go 3-10x40 for the scope. If u need s pic of the base kit pm me your email.

Set my son-in-law's T3 300 WSM up with Leupold 54447 bases and Burris Signature rings (medium). Very solid, no issues whatsoever after 3 seasons of use. (Signature rings are the only ones I'll use on my rifles.)

I am stuck between the Talley lightweights and the gamereaper\deadnuts rings.
Does anybody able to put both of these sets of rings on the scales and tell me what they weigh?

I have had the Gamekeepers, but I prefer the Talley. Low Talley's are great for the 2.5-8 Leupold Here is a 3.5-10 in Talleys. The Gamekeepers are very rugged and tough looking. Almost too much so. The rings are much thicker and have a heavier look and feel. I have a set on my Tikka Varmint and that was alright, but the 2.-8 Leupold is a sleek scope, use the Talleys.

I put a set of Warne's on mt recent T3 in .338 federal. I have had good luck so far......have them on a Sako A7 in .270 win as well. Strong and well made. A bit harder to install than Talley or Deadnutz which I have used as well. Can't go wrong either way. Good luck.......you should like the T3. Goodshot

If you just feel like spending money I'd go Talley or DNZ in that order. But I spent $2 at a hardware store to buy better hardened steel screws and replaced all the screws in the factory mounts. Once those are replaced the factory are every bit as good, and good looking as the other. Spend the $48 you save on ammo.

Get the Talley Light weights in the EXTRA-LOW if you are going to use the 22.5x38 scope. Perfect for the rifle.

Damn, those DNZ mounts are the ugliest friggin' things I've ever seen. Wouldn't clutter my rifle with such trash if they were given to me. Lot's of folks have no taste or sense of scale/grace I guess.

I think the tikka rings are ok, but remember there is a way to install the front tikka ring backward like someone recently posted about. you want that pin to face forward so the the force is on the meat of the ring. it really comes down to how concerned about weight you are. the warne rings are the heaviest duty option I know of but are all steel. talleys work fine and maintain light weight but the lightweights aren't the best looking rings IMO although I still own several sets on other rifles. me personally I am moving all my stuff to pic rails including my tikkas. I am using an EGW HD rail on my tikkas
