I would rather hunt squirell than anything else! No pressure just fun, if you get skunked who cares. You take a long walk with your gun and a bologna sandwich or an apple and just take it all in. If its too cold you stay home, if it rains you dont punish yourself. If you miss an easy shot, it wont haunt you for the rest of your life. Yeah there is no trophy organization for squirells, but maybe thats because they all are! When I moved to NY people laughed when I said I shot an ate squirells. Northerners just dont know what is good.

NYSavagefan,

I myself live in NY and I have enjoyed squirrell hunting over the years. I like to go and sit with an accurate scoped 22 and hunt them in that manner. I have two rifles that I have used over the years quite a bit, the first is a Win320 with a 3-9X scope and the second is a Rem 581 that wears a 4-12X scope along with a Richards Microfit walnut stock. I also occasionly shoot another Rem581 that has the factory stock and a 3-9X scope on it.

Good Hunting,
George
Good Shooting,
George

That's definately one of the pleasures I miss from the mid-west, the days of sitting under a ripe hickory waiting for the Fox Squirrels to come in. You're right, doesn't matter if you get one or not; it's the late summer-fall outting that counts. Something to do before rabbit season.

I bet that new .17HRM would make a nice squirrel getter.
