I recently picked an AR which was camo painted with enamel paint. I am wanting to remove the paint without harming the original finish. Any ideas on what the best way to proceed?

I've used Chemtool carburator cleaner before with no problems but I'd bet the anodizing will hold up to most any paint remover.

Nothing, because you're going to paint it black.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

The carbon fiber forearm is already black once the paint is removed. Why would I paint it black again?

Why remove the paint, if it's a good coat and you can just paint over it?

You wanna see the cool F1 carbon graphite cloth?
Sand the paint off, only as much as you have to, recoat with west system epoxy if you so desire.
As for the metal, I'd media blast it and cerokote it.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

I purchased some of the spray foam paint stripper and it works pretty good and fast. Spray it on wait 5 minutes and wipe of and apply coat of oil afterwards. Almost done, one more evening and she'll be black again.
