Last month I was in luck and got to fire a new Savage 116 alaskan brush hunter in 375 Ruger. I liked the way it handled and felt it would be a great brush gun for my pig hunting, sure its over kill but isn't that part of being a gun looney?
The 18 inch barrel may be a tad short but they are selling for $450 and I am close to grabbing one.
Anyone else get a chance to fire one?
Ted

Last I saw they were $575ish on GB. Looks handy as hell. Never handled one though.

Got a Savage 116 Alaskan Brush Hunter in 375 Ruger. Paid $589.95 for it. Mounted a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40mm scope with really solid Burris mounts and Warne QD rings so I can access the excellent iron sights quickly if needed. Really accurate with Hornady Superformance 270 grain factory ammo which I'll use til I build up an inventory of "once fired" cases. Combo is very light and quick pointing for a gun with that kinda wallop. The recoil pad does its job and the recoil is surprisingly manageable.

Anyone else get a chance to fire one? Don't you mean $550?? $450 seems awfully cheap for a new one.

For $450 I'd even buy one. That's cheap.
