I'm wondering if any of you are seeing fewer deer coming to your salt licks this year. I've got tracks all around the edge of the adjacent corn field, but no pics on my trailcam 30 yards away. Cam is working ok, lots of pics of moving leaves and coons, just no deer.

We're in pretty heavy drought conditions here in OH, like many of you are as well, I'm sure. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. The last thing I want on a hot day is a saltine.

Closest permanent water nearby is about 1/2 mile, across a fairly busy road.

Anybody notice the same or have any thoughts? Thanks for the input.

My experience is lush green food= using lots of salt vs dry tough food= less salt. YMMV. miles

Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

A water source will become even more important as the browse dries and holds less and less moisture during the summer months.

Throw in a drought during this time of year and you have your answer.

Add in the fact that the only decent browse with some moisture content will be located around water sources and that's where you'll find 'em.

Especially lactating does with fawns.
