Will 700 LA BDL stock work on a 700 SPS LA that has a detachable mag? I'm guessing no, but need advice.

You'd have to do a little inletting for the release buttons on the left and right of the magazine, but I doubt that it would be too difficult if you have some basic woodworking skills. My biggest concern would about the wood splintering, more so on a laminated stock than on a walnut stock. If you can fine a 700 MR DM long action stock, you'd nearly be able to drop your barreled action into it, just a little barrel channel work to account for differences in barrel diameter.

I don't trust the steadiness of my hand to use a Dremil Tool, I'd use a mill or, if a mill wasn't in the mix, a drill-press with a table that would allow me level, lock, and cut very carefully.

Use your old stock to make a template. Grind to knats nuts distance and hand file the last bit...
