Tony, the reason Mark does it becomes readily apparent when you see him swatting things at range. Familiartiy is a profoundly necessary quality when it comes to proficiency with a rifle and when the chips are down the man with the most time behind the butt is likely to come out on top... just one more reason to quit all the mental gymnastic's associated with amassing a "perfect battery" as if this were golf...

Mark,

You da man dude !!!

I'll bet that 340 makes things happen on demand.

Obviously you are into very long range shooting.

You get good penetration on 'yotes and PD's ?

Mark - I have found the 340 to be one of the most efficent and effective prairie dog calibers made out to any range. Simply hold center of mound in a group of dogs and presto! Numerous dead dogs and all bang flops at that! 5-8 dogs per round is very efficient

Yup and at $1.20 per (hand)loaded round, a 4 dog minimum per round, that equates to .30 cents or less per dog. That's right down there, cost wise, with the .223!
