OP AnsonRogers Campfire Regular A Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 1,331 Missouri	What's your favorite powder in the AR with 50 and 55 grain bullets? Are some cleaner than others? This will be primarily for coyotes. Also, is it beneficial to use plastic tipped bullets to prevent tip damage upon chambering?

TWR Campfire Outfitter T Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 10,170	TAC is clean burning and gets good velocity while giving great accuracy. H335 has been impressive velocity wise and is pretty accurate too. 55gr NBT's are the bullets I used.

Anything in the 25-27gr range is usually a good place to start when using 50-55gr bullets in the 223. I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.

I'll be working up a load for a 16" barrel AR probably using military brass and either 55 Winchester SPs or Hornady 55 Vmax bullets. I've got some old AA 2230 that I plan to use up first.
