Thinking hard about getting cc lic and was wondering what you guys use for every day carry? Gotta be small and light as I dont dress well enough to conceal a .45 daily.
Looking at s&w 638 or kahr 9mm but wanted other opinions

Post this also on the handgun forum - you'll probably find tons of people with ideas..
But for me, I alternate between a Kahr P-380 or P-9 for daily carry. The P-9 rides in a Mitch Rosen Upper Limit Express.. Very comfy and hides well even under a loose T-shirt..

Carry what you are comfortable with and shoot well with.
In the winter I carry a .40SW and I switch in the Summer to a slightly slimmer sidearm that is a 9mm.
You really need to practice and/or get some training in defensive shooting. Drawing, firing and returning to holster etc.
I looked at the Kahr and liked the size, but not for me. Reputation of the guns are up and down depending upon which model. I also didn't like the configuration.
Good luck.

Kahr mk40 in Crossbreed Supertuck. If you need lighter go to polymer Kahr. Really like the Kahr. The Supertuck is" forget about it " comfy.

I haul a Kel Tec PF9 around in my right front pocket. I have ran about five hundred rounds thru it with no problem at all. And if you have to ditch it, you ain't loosing the farm.
The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

Get the gun that you will still take with you after 60 days. Everybody likes carrying when the gun is new, but after the honeymoon, it often gets left at home.
My current carry guns are either a 4" Kimber 1911 or a Sig P238 (.380). Although I am looking to replace the .380 with a 9mm. And that's more due to me wanting to consolidate calibers than a lack of faith in the .380 cartridge.

I agree with all here I have always carried, something. Now , with a CCW permit, I carry a Diamondback DB9 (9mm ) in warm weather ( less clothing ) Winter and coat weather: a G 20 SF ( 10 mm ) Whatever you choose, Please make sure you are comfortable enough with it to carry everyday. Make it like putting your wallet in your pants.
Practice with it. Drawing and shooting realistic silloette type targets. In low light ( and no light )
Don't try and carry too much gun. You will only find a reason to leave it home. With today's gun and holster choices, there is No reason Not to be armed 24/7/365. I am. Every law abiding citizen should be!

The contours of a revolver are more easily concealed than a semi-auto, all other things equal. So I like my 2 1/2" 41 mag on some days. Other days I use a Sig P238 in 380. It's basically a miniature 1911.
The major issue is getting a strong belt and a holster you like.
In the summertime I can carry either on my belt, under an un-tucked knit shirt. Other times I wear a light vest and tuck the shirt in.
Be not weary in well doing.

I carry a .38 special s&w 442 that is really nice to carry. Sometimes I carry a glock 26 9mm. Both are fairly easy to conceal, but the revolver is much nicer to carry.

I would recommend, as recommended above, something like the S&W 442. I like revolvers, or full-size semi autos.
Deserve's got nothing to do with it.

I disagree...
[quote=WPAH]Police take the risk of getting shot/killed; that is their job.
If the door at this guy's home opens, and he has a firearm; he is allowed to point it at them until they are identified. Why not? His home, his personal space to protect and defend. Anyone could yell "Police" then shoot you and rape your wife and adolescent daughter. This world needs to wake up and think. A firearm is a tool; the liberals have brainwashed too many.
If these police officers cannot take this risk then do something else and F U.

dave,
if i didn't have a solid idea of what i wanted to carry, i'd make the trip to a larger city where i could find a shop with a range that rented a good variety of guns... and i'd spend the time and money to try a decent sampling of them...
i am impressed with both kahr and kel-tec... haven't yet used the smaller rugers but they sure look and feel nice...

and, if i hadn't fully thought out all the ramifications of using a weapon, i'd take a class with someone who could educate me a bit...
it needn't be gunsite or thunder ranch... some sheriffs offices have training available for citizens...

I carry a LCP in my right front pocket in a pocket holster. It's light enough and small enough it's no problem all day every day.

The contours of a revolver are more easily concealed than a semi-auto, all other things equal. I'd have to disagree with that.. The cylinder on any revolver will stick out more than a similarly-sized auto and, if trying to carry IWB, is literally a pita..

I've had to carry for 30 years, usually in jeans and t-shirt. A Glock 23 gets the nod, and it's never been in a holster.
The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal that thinks they're a conservative.
