I'm putting together a 6.8 SPC and can't decide what scope to put on it. If I had the extra cash I would stick an ACOG on it. I need to try and keep it reasonable on the cost on this one. The gun will be shot at 100 yrds most of the time maybe 200 once in a while. Might hunt pigs in the future. Can't decide between a regular type leupold style or the ACOG looking scopes. What do y'all reccomend for around or under say $300.00+-
Thanks!

For $300 my first choice would be a Weaver 3-9X40 Grand Slam Tactical. It's a Mil/Mil Japanese optic that's a lot of scope for the money. They have a very good review of it over on Snipers Hide. They go into a lot more detail than I could on a cell phone. I've owned two and really like them.
Personally, I would pass on any ACOG clone. Either get a real one or don't bother.

I have a 3-9x40 Weaver Kaspa on my RRA LAR-15 and it is quite nice and not very expensive. I've seen them for sale under $100 and I'd put them on the same plane as a Pro-staff, VXI, or Redfield.
I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.

For <200 meters, I'd get a red dot, without question. But I'm guessing that's too tacticool.

Aimpoint pro will run 400 new, otherwise get a Bushnell Trophy with the -.- sight it has the option red and green I use it and runs 179.00 new at I believe midsouthshootersuply it works at 100 yards, haven't shot it to 200 yards but imagine it would work fine.

Thinking about going with the weaver scope listed above. I Put a full body A2 style butt stock on the gun so what rings and bases wiuld you reccomend...... it is a flat top receiver. I have the 1' tall mounts on my 223 and it's not quiet tall enough to look straight through the scope. I am thinking maybe something taller would work better with this stock any ideas?

I presume you have hunting as the primary application, so with $300 buy a hunting type scope. My next AR will wear a simple 4X or 6X scope, if out west you would be hard pressed to find something more useful than a scope.

Here is the scope I was talking about on my rifle. I've settled on American Defense as my favorite mount but there are a lot of really good 1pc mounts on the market. RRA and the Burris PEPR both are great if you're on a budget. Here are a couple of reviews of the scope. They go into pretty good depth. Sniper Central , Snipers Hide . I personally think it's a lot of scope for the money. They retail for $399, but Midway runs them on sale constantly for $299. On my AR. Terry

Throw a Bushnell Elite (3-9x40 or 2-7x32) on it. The Rainguard is worth it alone. I've got one on my AR and each of my 3 bolts. Great scope for the money IMO.
It rained on us for 4 days straight on a hog hunting trip last March and my Elite was clear the entire time...I couldn't pick out a tree at 25 yards through my buddies Nikon.
