I fired a 22HP of mine this week ... it is just a youngster at 97 years old. I hope I can shoot as well as it does when I am that age.

Howdy from Texas!
I seek dies and case length gauge for 22 Savage. I also seek .228 bullets if you're willing to part with them.

really... solid frame or take-down? What is the barrel address. Got pictures? I think it would have to be a special order gun to have the combo of being 100 years old and have a 24" barrel. I don't have a copy of Murray's book right now but I thought that Savage did not make a 24" barrel in 22HP until around 1940.

There are also several 24" 22HP that were installed in Chicopee Falls after WWII. I'd guess I've seen about 5 or 6 that were early serial numbered guns with post war barrels on them in calibers that the factory no longer offered after WWII including 22HP and 303 Savage.

That would be a replacement barrel put on by Savage after 1947. Wonder if it's one that we've seen before?

define rare... not too many guns went back to the factory for work but as I noted, I've seen at least a half dozen... 1899Sav on here just sold one in 22HP not long ago... I think there is still one at cabelas.com in 303.

Yeah, I would probably call them rare.

I'm sure it was a standard 1899 in 22 hipower, it's just got a replacement barrel. If anything, that probably lowers the value at this time.

I wasn't trying to diss it or anything, just didn't want to raise any hopes that it might be worth bigger $$.

For pictures, just create a free account at photobucket.com and upload your picture there. Once it's there, copy the web address for it and put it here between [img] and [/img] tags and it should display the photo inline. There's a good walk through on how to do it in a sticky note at the top of the Photography forum also.
