Go Hurricanes! Whoda thunk it? I guess we have to win the Cup to get ESPN's respect.

Canadians, I'll send Kleenex later.

Jeff (new hockey fan)

Oh yeah, our arena has NO corporate sponsor! And I recently learned that Hockey players, unlike the NFL cashpigs, get no extra pay for post season play. I'm liken' Hockey more and more ...

Talus: you can have the 'Canes. They used to be our Hartford Whalers, and they couldn't hardly break a 50-50 season here. They brought in a few good names, but they couldn't build a team around them and they were traded away. I was glad to see them go, they wanted too many of my tax dollars to stay here, although I wasn't a hockey fan at all while they were here. My prediction is that they will be gone in 5 games (Detroit will LET them win one game), and I bet next year they don't even make the playoffs. I love the game, don't get me wrong, and I don't care who is playing (as long as its not the NY Rangers) during the season; if I'm working at the computer, the game is on in the background. 1st beer's on me, but I'm betting against the Canes. Stay tuned. 4fun

Okay Upstate New York sounding in. Hockey Country in these parts. In easy terms, Icing is when a player sends the puck the length of the ice and it is touched first by a member of the opposing team that is not the goallie.

As a hockey fan who lives just a couple hundred miles north of "Hockeytown" (Detroit), I think I will put my money on the best team in Hockey-- THE DETROIT REDWINGS!!!! I agree it will probably go to 5 games as the 'Wings will want to win the cup at home.

The redwings AHL affiliate played in our town until they moved out3 years ago. Still the Glens Falls area bleeds Red Wings red. I must disagree though. The Wings will sweep the Canes. Federov, Shanahan, Yzerman, Hull, Hasek, Lidstrom....... It is the Canes versus the NHL allstar team.

It seems that I stand corrected -- there is a bit of prize money connected with the Cup. But hey, until recently, I thought icing was stuff on a cake. And I thought a skate was a trash fish you threw back in the ocean.

Go Hurricanes!
Go Lakers! (for the sake of the other Rick, Rick Fox)

Well I was listening to public radio this a.m. and they interviewed a writer for Sports Illustrated...

He gave the Hurricanes absolutely no chance.

In fact he seemed rather annoyed that they were even in the game.

Yeah I'm also rooting for the Canes, I hate the redwings.

A powerplay is when a team has more players on the ice, than the opposing team because the opposing team had a player end up in the penalty box.
OSAMA BIN LADEN YOU WILL BE MEETING ME VERY VERY SOON.

The Dreadwings are turning on the heat now and I dont think we will see another Carolina win this year. I always did like the Russian players and their technical ability.

As a Wings fan for 50 plus years, I cannot remember a team with such depth in skills and experience. Sure the old original NHL was better balanced and more competitive across the league, but add the European/Russian teamwork, discipline, and skating finesse and it's all at a whole new level of proficiency.

They just wore the Avs down and skewered them in game 7.

The Canes have great defense and goal-tending, but not much else. Its going to be a shooting gallery Thursday.

At home, the flying octupi, the Cup .... again! 1B

Well that does it. Too much talent in Detroit. The Canes surprised me with their grit, but they just could not deal with the superior Wings.

My new career is fortune teller. The Canes had their chances, but couldn't make it happen. Oh Well........ better luck next time, probably when I'm 64. 4fun
