Doesn't that definition fly in the face of Free Will? Is God such a control freak as to grant Free Will and a very elaborate planned procession?

Art,

Theologians with IQs much higher than ours have wrestled with the issue of Free Will vs Predestination. The answer to that question has not yet been fully revealed/discovered, just as the answer to the question of how life developed has not been fully revealed/discovered.

Did anyone stop to think that there are some things we are not supposed to know? It is only our inflated ego that makes us believe we are important enough to know everything.

Certainly there is plenty that humans do not know and plenty humans will never know, but I doubt that humans are somehow prevented, by some devine enity, from furthering knowledge.pak

There is really solid evidence that life forms become more complex as you move up from the Cambrian(about 4 Billion years ago) to the present.
You could dig in a Cambrian outcrop until you are an old man and you would never find a fossil of a complex life form. Yet complex forms become more numerous as you come up to younger rocks.

IMO God set the whole Universe in motion, but not just like the Bible states.`

The evidence against macro-evolution is mountianous and for creation as great, obviously most of it indirect. "Evolution" isn't a scientifice fact; it's a dogma and adopted belief system and world view that justifies their lifestyle.

Since the inception of understanding plasma physics as it relates to the universe, more astro-physicists have become ID people at a rate greater than in any other discipline of science and from ID some have moved to Christianity in a natural progression.

BTY why would some come to a believing faith in Christ if they don't believe in other parts of scripture;i.e., the creation story? If you reject one part, by what authority does one elect to believe in another?

Edited to say the last is a rhetorical question not necessarily to Blaine but all who would believe that way.

Check the definition of creation. It is (per Webster) "To bring into being". i.e. "to make something from nothing".

You're quibbling over semantics... trust me, the Sistene chapel's images came from the mind of a man and were not there prior to a couple years labor. Why is that so terrifying to contemplate?

-------------------------------------

Not terrifying, but not creation. Michaelangelo was talented in the extreme, but he could not "bring something into being" from nothing anymore than any other man. EVERYTHING man makes is made from something else.

And........

The simplistic refutation that should be obvious to all, especially to the scientific minded, is that entropy is everywhere. And we didn't have enough time to do the magic, of entropy reversal. The slowing of the earths rotation, its decaying orbit into the sun, blah blah blah....

Evolution is junk science, plain and simple.

Please explain "good grief" Is that an oxymoron? How does good grief explain creation?

"Good grief" is a theological question and is not in keeping with this thread. I'll put up another thread related to angels on a pin head and explore the goodness, or lack of goodness, of grief and attendant suffering there...

The dictionaries I looked at, including a Webster's, a big ol' Random House and the OED all show multiple definitions of the word creation." To be able to limit your scope so narrowly as to accept only a single definition, that averaged third place in the referenced references, must be a handy talent when embarking on a Crusade...

That is what I was thinking last night, Art.

Now, I am going to go clean up the steaming mound of dig [bleep] that my dog just "created" on the back porch. She seems to have a problem walking out onto the wet grass these days <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />!

Well, folks, I try to shy away from moral relativity. If that equates to a Crusade in your world, then that is a place I don't want to be.

I'm thinking your hound had read this thread, and clearly conveyed her thoughts on it...
