I accidentally found out what my christmas present is!
I sure hope I can act surprised! (somehow I don't think that will be hard...)
Anybody else have a clue what they got already.
Not counting what you buy for yourself...

Well if I don't count what I got myself that makes it easy.
No idea.
The wife learned long ago, most of what turns my crank is outdoor related and I approach said endeavors probably more intently than the average bear. I know what I want and what I need and am not interested in anything version of Walmarts take on said item. So not many surprises there.
What she excells at and one of many reasons why I love her, is she gives me the stuff I didn't realize that I needed. Surpise pics of me and the kids or of just the kids themselves doing something that's cool. Good books to read, and the greatest gift a good woman can give to a man, she remains by my side. She's a keeper. Don't hurt nothing that she's about 12 rungs up the ladder on looks over me either!

Let me think. Wife dead, no kids, parents both dead, nearest neighbor over fifty miles away, yes I know everything I am getting for Christmas.
I will get up to feed, I will get my own breakfast, I will get out and check fences, I will get to clear ice off the tanks I will get my supper and I will get into bed at the end of the day. Just like any other day. What is the big deal?

My aren't we chipper this day. I am sorry that you have had the tough times you have had, but you are still breathing and hopefully your life is not that bad. It is only a big deal if you want it to be.
I can understand your point perfectly, mom fighting cancer, lost a brother just before Xmas one year, so I can take it or leave it too.
But as I am still fortunate and have a wife and a child, I will make it good for them.
I feel it is all about the children and teaching them what Christmas is really about.

I am not complaining and the only thing I would change is the wife. She was good enough that I have never wanted another. A drunk driver got her in 1971. Her car burned a hole in the asphalt. Still not a day I do not look for her.
I would not live like most of you do. I like being out and on my own. I know the real reason for Christmas. I know That Christmas as it is today has nothing to do with Christ. I just dont participate in the calibration. I choose to celebrate Him every day.

A miniature Schnauzer puppy named Reagan(see new addition to family thread).
A Bass Pro Shops raincheck for a Stevens 200 in .270 Win, already got the talley lightweights from Rickbin, scope is a (VX-III 2.5-8 Matte) I bought from Rick that is still setting on the shelf unmounted will go on it. Looking for a replacement stock, may go Bell & Carlson, may go Mcmillan Mtn Rifle, haven't decided yet. Will be ordering the head for my barrel wrench, the wrench to take the nuts off it, and some extry barrels in the future
Since you found out what you were getting, what was it????
Above all I get to relish in the fact that in spite of the way I am people still love me

"She was good enough that I never wanted another."
Boy if that ain't about the finest compliment one human being could give another, I don't know what is.
ditchwalker, you may have only 20 posts on this little gig called the campfire, but you're pegging it on my class meter.
If you honored your wife in life anywhere near the way you have here today, she lived a good life. Bless her soul. Merry Christmas to you sir.

I do not want anybody feeling sorry for me. Feel "sorry" for you???? Nah, not a chance. With the kind of perspective you have....your life is nothing short of what you make of it. Which is a lot more than you can say for a LOT of people on this planet! Judging by your posts....you have a lot of character.....character that all the toys/$$$ in the world can't buy a man....and I would bet the farm your wife loved/respected you equally as much. Most people live a life time with less than you two must have had in that short time. You must have been blessed. Glad to have you around! Have a very Merry Christmas, Sir! HoundGirl

The approach the wife and I have is: we announce what we will own Christmas day. If the fat boy doesn't produce, it gets ordered the day after Christmas. Took a while to evolve, but it seems to be a fairly efficient program. 1Minute

The wife never knows what to buy in the way of outdoor related gifts so I always get to pick out one of them.
This year it's an Eberlestock J105 pack.
Ditchwalker, Pretty impressive approach. Congrats on a fine perspective given the misfortune.
(I'd love to see where you live that can have a nearest neighbor 50 miles away.)

(I'd love to see where you live that can have a nearest neighbor 50 miles away.) Mostly sagebrush, bitterbrush rabbit brush and if you look under the snow you would find grass. I am a cattleman on my family's farm. I am the last of my family. I have twelve sections of hills I know as well as you know your living room. I leave my home and go to town once a month, less if I can get away with it. It is 118 miles each way to get my mail and groceries and about 5 more to go to church. I like visiting here but do not like too many people at one time. I guess I like be on my own. I have typed more words here this week than I say in two or three months time. I guess I need to say I am sorry for jumping blammers post. It was not my intent. I hope you have a Merry Christmas, each and every one of you.
