I have one. I really thought I'd like it better than I do. The scabbard lining is really loud, and there is no good way to compress the scabbard to silence it when you remove your rifle. I had the local saddle shop add a second compression strap near the top of the pack and it helped some but not enough for me. I love my eberlestock J34 and like the mini-me real well if I can get by with that little room. I'd buy a J34 or X1 pack before this one. My girlfriend likes it so I turned mine over to her. Her shots are all deliberate she needs time to set up steady and find the animal in the scope. I hunt more mobile and may want to draw the rifle on a stalk without taking time to remove, tighten, and silence the pack.

I have to say I agree with some things Mcseal2 says. The scabbard, unless you're young enough to be flexible, can be a bit of a pain to quickly pull your rifle. Some packs, my GS II and J107 both use compression straps that "can" also compress scabbard and keep the rifle from flopping around. When the straps do compress the pack contents against the scabbard, pulling the rifle is near impossible while it's on our back. Also, the scabbard, as nice as it is to have your hands free, can be a bit of a pain when one wants to sit down. The rifle or the pack has to be removed to do so.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still be using either pack this hunting season. I've carried an elk out with the J107.

I really don't have much trouble drawing the rifle unless it's really cinched down tight like you said. I sure feel that having the option of compressing the scabbard down is a good deal because it can silence and stabalize the load. I usually cinch my compression straps down real tight packing in, or hiking in in the dark and then back them off until the rifle comes out easily once I get to where I want to hunt. I usually take my pack off to sit like GSSP said, it's easier than removing the rifle.
