I bought two Stainless SPS' in .223...both are phenomenal shooters...wayyyyyy better than the loose nut on the trigger.

The .243 that I currently own shoots honest .5" 3 shot groups with Federal Premium 85gr. hp's. I bought a box of Barnes Vor-Tx 80gr. TTSX to try and it shoots them just under an inch. Best part about it is the two loads print to virtually the same point of impact at 100 yards.

My wife's was a 1/2" gun with ease. Had a few 1/4" groups as well. She wanted an AR, so we traded it off.
Work the grit off the bolt and it's a sweet rifle, at a good price. JME.

I have had good and bad I think they are pretty much hit or miss. A lot of times it can be a simple fix to get them going though like the plastic stock and sometimes I think a recrown can help. Luck of the draw....good luck! No different than any other rifle there though.

A cousin had one in 300 WSM. The best it would do with various factory ammo was 3". We both tried it. He sold it.

The SPS should be no different out of the box than any other 700 with similar trigger, barrel length, and contour. The SPS, BDL, CDL, etc all are made from the same processes. The only difference is the finish and stock they are put in. Shot blast vs. glass bead vs. polished finish. A lot depends on the trigger and shooter too on what you'll get accuracy wise as far as the rifle goes. Bullets and ammo are another story. Anyway, general rule is 1" MOA should be achievable out of the box with any 700.

My 7-08 is a 1" to 3/4" rifle. This is about what my son's 30-06 will do with 150 gr Hornady spires so far. It was more like 2 inches with 150 gr Remington Core-lokts. That's after a trigger job, it was horrible. Dale

30-06 150 grain federal blue or Win Power max just less than 1.25" typically.

Get a Stainless Tikka T3 light in the caliber of your choice and thank me later! I haven't had much luck with newer Remingtons, but YMMV. I had a SPS .223 tactical that struggled to do 1 3/4" at 100yds for three shots. My Stainless Tikka T3 Lite .223Rem puts the same load in about .5 to .75" for three shots.

Mine is a 7mm Rem Mag. It easily shoots 1 inch groups with anything I have fed it. Pet handloads produce 1/2 MOA 3 shot groups all day. 5 shots is about 3/4 MOA to 1 MOA. I had the trigger lightened before I ever shot it. Otherwise it is bone stock. I never met a Remington 700 that wouldn't shoot. I think most of today's production bolt guns shoot fairly well for the most part. I have heard good things about the Tikkas but don't care for the feel myself. Gun guy at Scheels said the T3 is their best selling rifle.

I had a 22-250 that was god awful accurate, every load seemed to work great.
Currently have a 243, so-so accuracy. Had to get it out of the factory stock to get any accuracy out of it. Put it in a Boyds and floated/bedded it and now it shoots pretty good.

I have owned two SPS Tactical .223 Rem both shot around 1/2" groups on average. I've got a stainless SPS .223 with a 24" barrel that I'm deer hunting with this year.
