One of these came on a .223 I acquired recently. Its not a scope I would ever have purchased but before I send it down the road I would like to know how something works. When you remove the turret caps to expose the reticle adjuster there is a freely turning cylinder around the turret that has graduations on from 0 to 60. I did not pull up or push down on anything but since these things freely turn I am curious how they work. Cannot find a manual online yet. These are no longer made from what I know but if anyone knows how this turret works I would appreciate knowing.
thanks

Does the reticle move when you're turning the turrets? I have a Tasco that needed a little allen head set screw tightened to move the reticle.
The Jap made Tascos were good scopes, haven't heard of a 8-40X, I've had 2 8-32X's. If you have problems, I'd not recommend sending it to Tasco, like I did. They replaced one with a Philipine made unit. I really wanted the old scope fixed.

The reticle moves when you turn the finger knob on the top of the turret. There is a screw in the center of that knob that turns as you turn the knob. This scope has a "custom shop" logo on the focus wheel but I do not know where it was made. Its old enough to be made in Japan.
I think, but of course don't know for sure, that the free turning cylinder on the turret may just be a scale you can set to see how far you move the reticle when you adjusting it with the finger knob.
In reading internet posts about this scope it would appear it has been out of production for some time and parts are not available. I have never owned a Tasco so have no experience with their customer service people although I am going to call them and see if I can obtain a manual.
Thanks for your comments.

Any Tasco scope made in Japan - no worries. If they are made elsewhere - steer clear!!!

I had one of those back when they were being sold, the custom shop thing with a big sidewheel focus. Don't remember about the turret caps but do remember that side focus was tricky to get a sharp picture. Turned back to 32X and tested against a Burris Signature 8-32 at full power, the Burris was noticeably better. I sold the Tasco.
