I spend a lot of time in feral hog country, not actually hunting. I own big bore wheelguns but they're heavy & bulky. So I've decided a10mm would fit the bill for power and carry-ability. I'd love a 1911 style but $$$$!! for a Delta or Dan Wesson razorback (if you can find the latter). Any other options with reasonable accuracy in the $600 range??

Not very long ago there was a mint used Kimber Stainless Target II on GunBroker that I seriously thought of buying...$899.00, no one bid and it had a beautiful set of elk stag grips thrown in...those could have been sold for $100+ making the price of the gun very reasonable...
I had a Stainless Target II in .38 Super and it was one of the finest out of the box 1911s I've ever owned. I sold it to a friend who still has it... It also digested 9x23 Winchester like it was made for it...

Glock. I think it's the only "cheap" 10mm still being made.

EAA makes their Witness line of CZ-75 clones in 10mm, most variants are below $600 retail. Some quite a bit below.

Bob I have had one of these (in 10mm) for nine years, and it's great. Worth taking the time to look for one on the used market. These were a limited run in the early 2000's, showing up from time to time used. FWIW, I sent mine back to the factory for front strap checkering and night sights; positively love it.

I've seen the excellent S&W stainless 10mm's sell for around 600 bucks, IIRC they are the S&W 1006.

Those are jacking on up there on GB too. Most likely if you get one there for $600ish it's pretty boogered up.

Is Glock in 10MM the pistol with the case-head support issues, or is that in another cartridge?

Go Glock. Then you can get other barrels in the future, like a 6 inch hunting barrel, 40 cal. 357 sig, oh and the beast of beasts the 50 GI. With the 50 I think you need to get an upper though. Do a you tube search for glock conversions, a lot of neat options out there.

For the time being it's serving its purpose well...(kinda like a security blanket) down the road a bit, I'll probably get either a Storm Lake or KKM barrel, a different sight system & start casting my own bullets so I can practice a little more a little cheaper...I really like the 10mm though.

But an aftermarket barrel will fix that (and elimate the worry about rifling for lead bullets), and STILL be money ahead over contender #2.

I have a custom DE that I will never part with, accurate, powerful, and as heavy as two loose bricks on my hip after an hours hike. At 52 years of age it gets left under my pillow, in the truck, or wrapped around my clenched fist as a I cuss myself for insisting on bringing it and a rifle on my little adventures. Get a Glock 23 with some night sights, and load it with some premium 155 gr Hornady XTP ammo. I am sure there may be a better offerings by Double Tap or Buffalo Bore. At times I have found no less than 4 different brands and weights stuffed in my mountain buddies magazines. Everything from American Eagle 180 gr FP's to Winchester 155 gr Silvertips. Lucky bastards get to spend all their time in the back country, they come across hogs during their daily chores more often than not. Treat their 23's like soon to be ex-girl friends. It is probably a bullet festival when the opportunity is forced, but their freezers seem to always be full, and I have not bit down on any lead during supper.

Not sure of the "23" you speak of but Glock only has a 20 and 29 in 10mm. I have both, a Colt Delta Elite, and a Kimber Eclipse all in 10mm........also used to have a Kimber stainless target II in 10mm. The glocks run any ammo you feed them without fuss....hit what your aiming at and are lighter. The 1911's are cooler....YMMV.
PS... you know when your driving down the freeway and you see the plain old international truck with all the fuel saving wind deflectors pullin a load......And then you see the long hood peterbuilt that has been lowered with chrome stacks all polished out lookin neat in the seat hauling the same trailer..... If style points matter get the 1911.
