I've never been banned from there. but I dont think I have visited that site in over 2 years. They are like a "Cult" of idiots who are brainwashed by Winchester to think they actually have something the rest of us dont already have. More accurate, effecient, and almost the same as a real cartridge seems to be their theme. Well, I have news for you, when some critter is breathing down my back, wanting to "EAT ME" as the warthog in the Lion king yelled out, I personally would like to know that the bigboy cartridge I chose allowed me
one more round in the magazine. You know
what, it is true, "Shi$ does happen" and only an idiot would choose a weapon that shorted him or her one more "Chance"....to live perhaps?..................................

Merry Christmas.....and to the Short mag gang, .....Stuff it, baby!

7STW,

Years before the short mag thing came into vogue, I made a .378 Weatherby shortened to 2 1/4" and necked to 7MM (of course) on a 700 action. It held the same amount of powder as the 7STW. At the time a friend of mine had a Remington 700 7 Mag rechambered to STW.

I did a lot of tests and positively could not match the velocity of the long skinny with my short fat. And my short fat was 2" longer at 26". I have to agree with the cult idea. I now shoot a 28" 7STW. Can't help it.

The Short Mags are mostly Marketing -Hype. Add me to the list of those who prefer the full-sized cases.

I'll take my 338WIN MAG and let the others have their Short Mags. That makes me want to go over the other forum, screw with'em and hopefully get banned from someplace I'd never go anyway!

I think the basic theory of them being more accuarate may be true but not enough for most of us to see or care about. The fly in the ointment is the fact that you're making a magnum lighter and increasing recoil. Why would you want to do that? I've heard about the "more effecient" burning but I had way too much physics in college to know that it wouldn't be significant. It's just hype - the sugar pill theory. A friend of mine has a REM 7 in 7mm SAUM that kicks sharper than my 338. He shot both and agreeed too. Using a Magnum in a standard action increases weight and keeps recoil manageable.

If you have and like your Short Mag - awesome. I am not knocking you. Kind of like a Harley. Like the concept and they do attract attention but I won't buy one. Different Strokes...

i haev a shortmag I like, Browning 30 WSM. I agree that the Shortmag.org site is pretty anal about things. I hardly ever go there, my 300 wsm i bought because i got a good deal and I wanted something that punched a bit harder than a 3006. I like the shorter more light weight rifle thing but it's not that big a deal.

I like the shortmags and the longmags and the nonmags and......I guess I just like to buy guns. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> Just think of it this way, if it wasn't for the new shortmags this thread wouldn't exist.

Hello all!
Tom Pearce from Wa State, a long time lurker and have recently re-registered. I use the forum sys to gleen as much info as I can, as I believe most do. I am not a member of short mag, though I own one. I also own long mag guns.

However, this entry/ topic isnt about who owns what. Its about someone being banned from a forum site due to his "Attitude"

7stw, this is about you........ Not another forum mod.
I'm not much for tolerating smart ##ses either and if you and the rest of our fine readers were to pull your first post all will see why some folks just are not allowed to play in certain neighborhoods.

Off Soap box
Tom

Note: I hope all had a Very Merry Christmas!

Lets see now, go to a shortmag site and blast them to hell. And wonder why you get bumped? Those should be folks that like the shortmags and don't have time to be told they are wrong.

FWIW I'm still gonna have a 7wsm built on a mohawk. The mile long records that the 7 is setting are incredible. And to think I could have a bit more HP than a 7x08 in a short action. Can't see what it hurts.

Guess it really isn't much worse than an 06 shooter telling the 308 guy he's all wet......

I tend to handle sites with @$$holes by "banning"myself. Pretty easy and I'm not wasting bandwidth complaining about things in my control

I guess you no savvy, how that dickhead runs the Site? He's a whack job, through and through and is typically way shy on his Med's.

One needn't "blast" anybody or anything,to rate being banned. While the discussion is moot, due to the Site being very small potatoes,as far as housing insightful/pertinent info,it is a glimpse at a raging Looney in action. I view it a Jerry Springer-esgue environment, chalked full of Martha Stewart-esque insight on the Shooting Sports. It's fullblowed humor and dat's it.

As to a mid-capacity 7 doing great things downrange,the squatty-bodies are where it's at,IMHO.....................

The ShortMags moderator is a weird one. He actually had the gall to state in his posts (in one of his many forum rules threads which keep changing) that too many threads were about "custom shortmag rifles" and to stick to posting about factory shortmag rifles only! (Its not up anymore)

As for his limited gun knowledge, lets just say he is in the special ed class!

What I dont understand is why visit a forum that is for something you dont care for in the first place? Just for the sake of arguing? Lawdog
