[Linked Image] The above group was shot this morning,4 shots including a fouling shot went .969" average and average speed is 2837 fps.

[Linked Image] This was shot last Saturday .522" and average speed was 2870 fps.

Same load 90 grains RL-25,Fed 215,250 NP.

I tried some 210 NP's this morning also, and the best group was like the bottom group and speed was 3170 fps,my question is which one to choose?

Most of my elk shot's are 200 yards or less,so I'm leaning towards the 250's.

IMHO, either Partition load would work well, but if you want to analyze further, try comparing your loads using this:

http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj-5.1.cgi

My #1 elk hunting buddy shoots a .240 WBY (I use a .300 RUM), and he's tried a bunch of bullet types and weights over the years, most recently going with the 210 TTSX. On our hunts, he's taken a couple that were bedded in dark timber, two more around 200-250, but also one at 350 and two more at around 550 yards. You never know what chance you'll get.

Several years ago with my .300 RUM, I switched from the original 180 grain factory Partitions used during break-in and initial hunts to handloaded 180 Sciroccos (and later Scirocco IIs). Both shot well at 100, but despite being about 50 FPS slower at the muzzle, at extended range, the Sciroccos fly flatter and retain more energy. They also hold together better (my preference).

In my limited experience, I've found that the newer Accubonds behave similarly to the Partitions on game, with the top portion rapidly expanding and often being shed off, while the shank pushes through. If that's what you like in the Partition, perhaps some Accubond testing may be of interest. They like the Sciroccos, have a better BC and long range trajectory/energy retention.

Again though, either Partition load looks sweet.

Good luck and best wishes!

I've used a .340 Wby on elk with both 250's and 210's,and cannot tell the difference between the two. I'm going to take both loads out tomorrow and decide then.
