I've got one of the cross bolt safety model 39A rifles and I like it (except for the safety) but when I fire it, it gives a metalic "ping" from one of the springs. Doesn't affect accuracy or anything but is annoying. Anybody else notice the same thing? Any cure?

I'm guessing it's the "rebounding hammer" that you're hearing. They talk a lot about this over at RimfireCentral.
I've never understood why Marlin wanted to mess with Perfection. The OLD 39A was a perfect as it gets!
