Anybody using one of these? Have photos?

I was thinking of an HTG but think this will give me a little more stability with not much extra weight.

Looking at inleting it for a Bartlein #3 contour.

This is my first go round and I think I've figured out what would work, but I'm sure there's a little bit of experience around here that could offer some good advice. smile

having owned the HTG and A1-3, i vastly prefer the A1-3. mine is not the Edge version though.

Nice! What countour barrel do you have in the A1-3? Would a magnum sporter #3 fluted look like a hot dog in a hallway?

Also, I've seen some with a notch cut out of the stock to be able to cycle the bolt, is that a regular issue with a Rem 700 SA style action?

that barrel is a Lilja #7. a #3 would look puny in either the HTG or the A1-3 IMO, but do what you gotta do.

that stock is a long action and has the notch. i do not know how the short actions are made. maybe someone else here knows.

A #3 will be too small IMHO for that stock. By stability, what are you looking for? A wide forearm? Perhaps a McMillan rem hunter pattern would be better.

No, go Game Scout. This is exactly what it was designed for. I had an A3 EDGE.... until the Game Scout came out. grin

I have 2 of the A1-3s on short actions and another that should be here within a month. All have the notch on the comb to clear the cocking piece. Not sure if it comes standard that way but my first one came without the notch. I just had my smith cut one. Since that first order, I request the notch on my order.
My bolts, in the most rearward position, do slide into the notch by a little bit.

A #3 would leave lots of real estate on either side of the tube.

My barrels are Rem Varmint and Bartlien Bull sporter.

Or you could just buy a Greybull stock. Better ergs and you ain't gotta bed it. Skim it if it makes you feel better.

The notch came from McMillan in the short action A1-3 I had.

I like the A1-3, but for a #3 contour, definately go with the Game Scout.
