I am looking to purchase the new Leica Trinovid, and was wondering if anyone has used or looked thru these? I am not able to look thru prior to ordering so any input is welcomed!

I have a pair of Trinovid 10x50's. I've used them for about 8 or so years...

In short they're fantastic. World class optics, built very stout and should treat a guy to excellent glassing for a lifetime.

You can't go wrong with them.

I had a chance to go to an optics expo at a retail store this year. They had tables set up outside so you could try out different products. Reps from Swarovski, Zeiss, Kowa, Pentax, Nikon, Vortex, Leica, Bushnell,Minox, Meopta. To my eyes the Swarovski had the brightest, clearest image of all the binos I looked through but also had a kind of fishbowl effect when panning with them. The Leica Trinovids also had an excellent image, not quite as bright as the Swaros but the Leica worked better for me when panning with them. What I ended up buying were the Meopta Meostar B1 8x42. For my money they had an image very close to the Leica. If you can, it is best to look with your own eyes through the binoculars you intend to buy.

I've yet to find anyone that owns the Trinovids. I'd like to test drive them as well.

Of course, at the price they're asking for the Trinovids, a gently used Ultravid HD would get the nod from me.
