What is a good saw to carry in your day pack for sawing a set of antlers off an elk? Good features are light weight, folds and not too big.
I found an elk that had been dead for some time. The body was very much decomposed, but had a good rack attached. I used a folding wood saw, which worked but not very quick.
There are no bad days hunting elk, some are just better.

I don't know of any hand saw that really works well. Fresh bone is just hard to cut. My partner uses a $10 Stanley folding saw that uses replaceable recip saw blades. You can find lots of different kinds of blades of several lengths that will fit it.
One of my partners had neck surgery a few weeks ago. His doc says he can hunt and carry a rifle but can't carry a pack. I'm going to take a llama and we'll hunt together so the llama can carry his gear. So...I have a battery recip saw that's going along. It's too heavy for my back but ol' Zack can carry it just fine.

The old style Gerber bone/wood saw will get it done.
As will the newer style, but I really miss the old style, it was not as heavy/bulky as the new style. (I removed all the rubber from the new style, still to heavy)
The Gerber saw seems about the best thing I have seen lately. But it would not take much for some other outfit to steel that market.
The Wyoming saw is hands down better, just a chunk of change more and not as handy for quick cuts to wood afield.

I use a Gerber folding saw, it works well.

Always used my Wyoming Saw with good results Me too. Mine came with two blades for bone & wood. It has cut skull plates and so many tree limbs I can't count.

Wyoming saw if remote location..... Messy but quick, a Husqvarna otherwise if possible

The Sven-Saw (21")worked for years, then I modified it to be a versatile tool by purchasing a 21" Haban bone and meat blade. Switch blades for task at hand.

In the back country the Wyoming Saw is the best I have ever seen by far. You can make the cut in under a minute. It will take you longer to put the saw together and take it down than it will to make the cut.

I have a Wyoming Saw (large one) but its too heavy and bulky for my needs. Used the new Gerber, but it broke (hinge mechanism) on a skull plate and small pieces of black plastic came out of it when I got back to camp and washed it.
I now use the Outdoor Edge saw (t-handle type) and it rips through skull plates and antlers without any sort of folding mechanism to break.

I also use the Gerber and the bone blade for that works fast.
Though I did see a guy on Bowsite who destroyed his hand when his Gerber sawblade broke and he rammed his hand into the back of the broken blade still stuck in a log
