Had some troubles with the gas tanks, the ford truck bed and rusted out old gas tank straps did not work had to fab up a mount. Front gas tank could not put the straps on because one of the floor repair supports I put in was in the way of the slots, so had to fab up that too. Then the front tank leaked out of the vent tube and the pick up tube had to weld, the vent tube then solder the flange of the pick up tube. After filling the tank three times and siphoning it out three times and getting gas all over I finally rigged up plugs so I could test it with air. It is all in now execpt the sending unit is wrong fot the tank and only registers half a tank at full (ordering correct one) more switches in more body work done and soft to and twin stick on the way. Bought the copper pearl paint $300.00 and hope to get some color on it this weekend. Will get some pics this week.

That's an awesome color and you are making me feel very bad about being as slow as I am on my body work efforts on my numerous projects at home grin

Beauty! Buddy once had a K5 Blazer about the same color. Within a few months of the new paint job, he ran 'er down over a bank between some trees and scrubbed most of it off the sides. Trimmed the new SS mirrors off, too.

Seeing them front hubs reminded me of the time I took a new one out for a test drive, '67 I think? Salesman wanted me to take it "off the road" and into some nearby muck, so I did.

Then he told me to "put 'er into four wheel drive". Sat there and didn't move. He had no idea why, until I mentioned that the manual hubs weren't locked-in. He wanted to know if I'd get out and lock them, I said nope. So he had to. She came right out then, but when we got back to the showroom, the rest of the salesmen had a good laugh over his muddy shoes and pants cuffs.

smirk

289 automatic, if I remember it right? Almost had myself talked into buying one at the time, but something came up. Don't think they had anything on the lot then, that wasn't a V8 automatic?

Awesome WIP thread, thanks for the sharing.

As others have written, that color really works here...

Thanks for all the compliments! a lot of work appreciat it.

got the soft top mounted, upholserted the seats, carpeted the inside with some costum wheel well covers to hold speakers and cup holders and provide storage. all the guts back in the doors and the mirrors on. The flares I bought won't work on the 77 going to have to go back to the regular flares, at least I can use the others on the 70.
