It seems like it is taking forever to get here.
16 days until we leave for a quick weekend WY antelope hunt. Another 17 days to wait after we return before we leave for elk camp.
Heading to the range this weekend with my hunting buddy and a friend, will be warming up the rifles for the antelope hunt. If I can figure out what I want to take this year, for the elk hunt as well.
Might get another range trip in before antelope season and another just before elk season. Slow as things seem now, I know once we leave for antelope camp the days will zip by faster than I want and next thing I know another elk season will be behind us.
Like a kid waiting for Christmas...

Lucky me,I took the edge off with a cow ML hunt in Sept. Then Ihave a ML deer tag for Bonny area the 13th of Oct.
The 2nd rifle elk season is pushing me to get ready for it.

I got it bad also!
But glad for that. There was a lot of equipment that I needed to pick up. Craigslist being about my number 1 source, and it has been picked through as I still watch for camp items.
Yesterday's / last nights cold-wet snap did not help!

If we don't get some weather soon it'll be a rough one. Got a bit of rain over the weekend but not much. Still hanging in the low eighties during the day.
Deer season this weekend then the long wait for second season spike. Didn't draw a branch tag again. Sometimes I really hate this state.

Elk season is going to suck this year because everywhere I hunt is still on fire and there is know travel allowed into those area's for anyone. It's all closed......
Fishing is sounding good right now.

Deer season is like pre-season football.
It's better than nothing, but you're looking ahead to the "real thing."
Inside every deer hunter is an elk hunter waiting to emerge!

I'm with ya Jayco. Fire level is way high for this time of year. Can't even run a saw yet let alone a camp fire.

Jayco, have you checked the weather forecast for that area lately? If not, do it. I just did and you might like what you see....

Berett I watch it several times a day and the outlook is going to get better but as it stands now,the roads in are all closed into two areas I have chosen seeing Elk prior to the fires. To camp just outside there zone is filled with firefighter base camps and food caterers in large semi trailers. My RV is packed and ready to go with everything(I could leave in 10 minutes) and I was there 1 year ago today but the smoke is thick there now with visibility very low...... Have you seen Riggins Idaho lately not that far from McCall or Strangeville as the crow flies....Not my kinda hunting without an oxygen mask. Jayco

eee-yuck. that looks awful. I do wonder if the Salmon River Motel there lets you make a U-turn?? Lets hope that forecast holds and is correct.

I am leaving on the 16th for the 2nd rife in GMU 54 in CO. My mind has been there for the past month but my body will not catch up until the 16th.

We have the opposite of fires now. Snow.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a hunting license and that's pretty close.

My tags are as follows:
Cow, Unit 4 Snake River Ranch (RFW) Cow, Unit 3, 301 (leftover), 3rd Rifle Buck, Unit 4, 3rd Rifle
The RFW season overlaps 3rd Rifle, giving me 11 days to hunt (November 1-11) if I so choose. Generally ready to head home before that. May spend some time in Unit 3 looking for a cow, though. (Hopefully the second one...) Buck only if it doesn't get in the way of elk hunting...
