I ended up with a Damascus blade under our tree. You win. Let's see it! I did get a few knives that I like alot, but they be humble, pedestrian items, ..... a Forschner 5" boning knife , an 8" fillet knife (love this one and highly recommend it), and a 12" Cimeter .

Mrs. Santa donated a Puma Bowie with nice stag scales. Very sharp (but not as sharp as I like).

A Cutco double D edge hunting knife along with a Cutco adjustable lenght blade filet knife. Cutco makes fine knives and I always admired their hunting knives. Cutco used to be a customer of mine when I was in Sales/Marketing.

I got some of those Buck Custom folding 110 Hunters. I gave myself one, my son, my brother-in-law, and a friend that just turned 60 one. It has the BG42 blade, stag handle with nickel bolsters, and a brown sheath. What a beautiful knife. I like buck anyway but I really like that one.

Elf,
Can't wait til you post a pic of your knife. Make sure you take care of the damascus. In my extremely limited experience, I found damascus to rust fairly easy in moist environments.
I didn't get any knives for Christmas, but I did gift a half dozen Kershaw Leeks, a couple of Gerber LSTs, a couple of SAKs and a Gransfors Bruks hatchet.
Just curious. Does anyone include a coin when they gift a knife? I usually tape a quarter to the box of each knife that I gift, and the giftee returns the quarter to me.
Wishing All a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Chris, I put a penny with the axe I gave my son and will include one when I get my other son's knife to him.
I also got a pair of Leupold Binocular's as well. They are soo cool
What should I be using on the damascus then?

Wow. Beautiful knife. Reminds me that I have an ivory warthog tusk and a damascus blade to go with it but haven't had a chance to put it together. The shape of the tusk is fairly curved so getting the blade to work comfortably vis a vis the tusk will never be perfect. But the tusk is from a beast I shot and has sentimental value. Someday hope to send it out or personally put it together. Again, the picture you posted is orgasmic !

Thanks Walker.
It is a sweet little knife think it will sit nice in the hand.
Working on replacing the cam then I'll be up and running again until then I'm practicing with my 35mm takes a bit of effort to focus and hold then push the button but it's good practice for me.

When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Hope the hands are doing better, Elf. Heres a gift from a friend who said she bought this in the early 80s and she just put it away. I have several old timers that I use for hunting, but this one will be put away. Happy New Year!

That Schrade Little Finger is a nice knife, I have a couple of them with different handle materials. My newest Schrade is a muskrat. I'm not a big fan of guthooks, but I couldn't resist this one:
