My son has just bought a Husky 1640 Lightweight 308, with a broken stock. He wants to restock it with a simple classic style stock, preferably wood, but not laminated if he can help it. Any suggestions as to whats available, remembering he is a poor college student on limited funds.
Cheers, Al

Have you checked out Boyds' Gunstocks? http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/. They seem to have a good reputation and offer walnut and laminated stocks inletted for small and large ring Mausers. They also sell shaped, un-inletted stocks that can be fit to most any bolt rifle. I have a small ring Mexican Mauser in one of their laminated stocks.

Thanks guys, we thought Boyds only made laminated, that classic walnut stock looks just what I would use, now to see what my son thinks.

McMillan Edge, brown if you're slanted that way.

Nice looking rifle, Steelhead. Is that stock sold as a Husky or as a Mauser. Limited funds, but son definitely likes the McMillan.

As a Mauser but it's inlet for the Husky and the 1640 fit perfectly.
