I'm very pleased with the Hawkeye African 9.3x62 I stumbled across last year - sometimes they even use nice lumber:

...and when they shoot good as well:

...makes me think "Best in the World", but that handle is already taken, or so I'm told whistle

Now, if I can just hit the damn quarter next time...

My walnut stocked 223 is no more accurate than the two mid and late 90s walnut stocked, Model 77 223 sporters I've owned. All were and are plenty accurate for a sporter. IMO the main difference and improvement of the Hawkeye is in the lines and handling of the walnut stock.

I've got an All-Weather in 308, and would call it an average shooter, most loads reliably shooting into 1.25" to 1.5", and one showing promise of being able to consistently shoot just under MOA, the average hovering around 1.06".

A new stock may not make it shoot better, but I just like it more.

The Aviators have contributed much.

They shoot a darn sight better than the flyer throwin' sonuvabitch sitting behind them! Went out with the .25-06 this morning to finalize the loads and seating depths. Four different bullets, two powder charges, firing four shot groups.

Fire the first three rounds into 3/4", throw the 4th shot out to 2". blush
Fire the next three into just under 1/2", throw the 4th shot out to just under an inch. blush
Fire the next three into another 1/2" group, throw the 4th shot out to 1 3/8". blush
Repeat this pattern until all rounds used up. cry

The magazine holds four down, I think Ruger did that just to torture me.

Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery.

VERY NICE. Is it bedded? I've noticed my rugers shoot much better after a good bedding job.....Example of a ruger hawkeye .223 rem I bedded:

The hawkeye 308 win I just sold was bedded/freefloated and shot very well too:
