These guys were bugling, put on quite a show for us. Trudie felt sorry for this guy, he kept trying to get in with the cows but the bigger bull in the other pic kept running him off.

Nice pics, I think my neck is swelling!
JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

not used to seeing elk in that kind of country this early in the year Build a pivot in the desert, and they will come. Especially in a year delivering 60% or so of average precip. They are showing up in green spots up here much earlier than normal.

Good looking bulls, thanks for sharing. Was through Jarbidge last week and all the elk hunters we talked to said they hadn't heard a bugle for days. Wonder if the hot weather or pressure had them tight lipped?

Wonder if the hot weather or pressure had them tight lipped? Weather has been hot here, was it hot in Jarbidge? We were there in Labor Day, it wasn't hot then. They were right below a pivot, supposably there was a 400" bull there, either someone wasn't a good guesser or an archery hunter got him. These were just north of Ely. They weren't very spooky, the single bull let us get within 60 yds.

It was pretty warm in the Jarbidge area. I'd say low eighties down low where we were. Very neat country! We were mostly north of there in Idaho looking for sheep. Did the drive from Murphy to Elko one day. I'll drive that far for dancing girls and a meal at the Star Cafe with no regrets!
