My son grabbed my camera this morning and snapped a few cool pics of a nice Northern California Blacktail. My big Oak trees are raining acorns and the deer that live near my house have been chowing down. Cool pics Kid! And away he goes...

It is funny how many people will look at that buck and not realize how good it really is for a blacktail.

Same thing at my house. Nice buck drinking out of the fountain by my front door. My problem is the judge lives next door.

I live 4000 miles away and have never seen a blacktail in my life but could tell that is one helluva buck, I'm with Steely on this one and flame him. Nice pixs by your son.

Long legged rats around here. What they don't eat, they kill with rubs. Just when I thought I would get a good tomatoe crop, they picked them all and dropped them on theground, ripe and green.

I still have my tag that needs to be punched... Nice buck, makes me want to go hunting. (October 15th!) Deer season closed here last week, seems the bucks know that (the rut helps too). This was the first year in decades that I didn't kill a buck locally. My kid filled the freezer with two & I just didn't see a buck I liked enough to shoot, passing on a broadside 3 point at 18 yards on the last day of the season. Sure gets me thinking about next year though.... Those are such nice bucks Saddlesore. My petite lil blacktail bucks are the rats not yours.....

Saddlesore -
Thank you for the pics. I now have to convince my wife we need to move to Colorado. Honey, I don't have any job prospects, we don't know anyone and the kids will have to change schools leaving all their friends behind, but there are some HUGE MULE DEER that can be shot from the kitchen window.
Yep, I see that going well.

Dang nice bucks - I love the fence jump shot. I have a blurry one - film not digital, was so deflated when I got it developed. So- good on ya for the cool shot.
