Gents: I have a Lone Star Remington Rolling Block that unfortunately is missing the lower tang wood screw. Damn nice rifle. Too bad Dave and his expertise are no longer with us....
I e-mailed Lone Star 'bout a replacement. But the response I received was pictures of various machine screws that might fit. Guess Dave H. did not label his parts bins correctly.
Can anyone help me out with a possible source for this part? Or, have one for sale plus S/H?
Thanks

Ray, if you go to trackofthewolf.com and page through their catalog of screws I bet you can narrow the possibilities down to one or two that would work. You could try hardware store screws for fit just to get the size figured out. Wood screws are unlikely to be some oddball custom dimensions I think. I doubt Dave made his. He may even have bought them from Track.

Brent: Thanks for the tip. Just ordered some from Track of the Wolf. Went to several hardware stores yesterday and today and was told: "we haven't carried or seen that kind of screw in years."

Yup. Had the same problem. Even specialty stores say they can't be bought at any price. Then I go to Track.
Good luck with it.

There was/is a gunshop called Bonetree or something like that, and they specialize in RRBs. I believe they are out west somewhere.

Link: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-t...acement-butt-plate-screws-prod25071.aspxThese'll work, as is, though the taper is not the perfect match and needs to be cut a bit shallower. I've been known to weld em' up and re-slot em' with narrower slots, per original Rem #s, too. A properly countersunk recess in a Copper chill plate makes that a lot easier,..... GTC

Jericho, That's Treebone, the stock shop. They do have buttplate and forearm screws.
