I have been looking for a used savage barrel in 6x45mm but haven't had any luck. Before spending the money for a new barrel I would like to hear from people who have experiance with it.

I just built one and really like it. I plan on busting a few animals this fall with mine. Several guys around here have one and have more experience than I do with the round. I'm sure they'll chime in....

I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

I'm also interested in a future re-barrel job on a Sako l461 that is currently .222 and has a barrel that looks bad but still shoots sub 1" groups at 100m.

I have a custom AR that I bought from GregW on here. It is very mild mannered and shoots great. Mine is 1-10 twist and it likes everything up to 85grs that I have tried. It is hell on coyotes and will work for deer if desired. Bolt guns will give the advantage of seating the heavier bullets out further and not hogging up powder space. Overall I am very happy with the cartridge and they are a breeze to make so why not. Hope everyone gets a chance to try one. T.S.

Its a great antelope/deer/pig/coyote round to 700 yards on p-dogs also. I built my Savage with a McGowan 24" 1/10" SS select bbl.
Dropped this guy on the 5th at 225 yards with the 85 sierra GKHP bullet. The 85g SGKHP/Nosler 80/85g partition/Nosler 95g hunting BT are perfect for these and will pop em good to 400yds with ease.
Hit up Jim (a vendor) at NSS on the savage site for your build in either the McGowan or CBI bbl.

Id start saving for a new one, you will be very hard pressed to find a 6x45 nice Savage bbl.
