Use the starting loads above and work up to just under 2900fps with H4831SC or H4350. You'll find accuracy in there somewhere...

Loaded up some w/44 H4350, safe in my rifle. Would start lower....I used WW708 brass, other brass may be lower capacity.

My 260 Montana likes 130 VLD's best with 43.5 grain H4350. Using Lapua brass and CCI BR-2 primers. Velocity is 2820 FPS.

Spot - some find 4831 giving better accuracy, likely does best w/130s and higher, though I ran IMR4831 in 6.5x55 long ago w/120 CLs, though was only hitting about 2800 or little more, in two '96 mausers, one 24" the other 21.
Rye, my 44/IMR4350 130 AB load ran 2780 and I knew H4350 is said to get higher speeds, so figure 2800-2850 is no problem in a sporter and w/high bc, it has reach. Not clocked mine...yet.
Have you killed w/the VLDs?

I used WW708 brass, other brass may be lower capacity. 65, did you use the 7-08 brass so you'd have a false shoulder for the first firing?

There's some more good info on the ".260 Loads" thread. Rick made it a sticky. John

Smokepole, all you do is neck down (in my case fresh new WW cases) - load and go. I necked about 2/3s down or so, as my die is set for partial sizing, std 2-die Redding. John, thanks - I never noticed that sticky but appreciate the link sir, hope your season goes great, looking fwd to more pics

I'd say buy some H4350, seat to box and shorter and find accuracy. Work up to 44 and when you get the accuracy you need you're there.
