So I'm about to work up a load for my .300 WSM and 165 TSX. Barnes website says RL-15, but looking around on the web, nobody seems to be using that powder. General consensus is RL17 or H4350 (which I have). Would appreciate some advice!

Haven`t used the 165 TSX for my 300 WSM. But I will agree that H4350 and RL17 are both very good starting powders for load development. Have and do use them both.

Ime, they both work extremely well from the 155 gr bullet weights up to and including the 210 gr VLDs. H-4350 offers me somewhat better accuracy while the RL17 gives the best speeds.

Regardless of what is suggested, there is only one way for you to find out.

Back when I had my 300 WSM, I was using RL-22 under a 168 TSX...

I would use Reloader 17, but I would also take a look at Hybrid 100V, not a lot of people talk about this powder in a 300WSM, but it seems to perform very well and has good velocity, it also supposedly meters very well. I don't have experience with 100V, so don't take what I said about 100V as being my experience, I am just passing along what I have seen and heard.

+1.

My go-to powder for the 300 WSM.

RL17 is a solid second choice, but I generally found H4350 more accurate.

I've found great accuracy in two WSMs with 17. So much so that I've never even tried H4350, though I plan to at some point, just because...

The other plus for H4350 is it's FAR more temp stable than RL17.

Very good, thank you! So I'm going to try H4350. Neither Barnes or Hodgdon have load data for the 165 TSX. Does anyone have that handy?

I'd use whatever 165 Recipe Hodgdon has as a guide... generally I've run TSX/TTSX's .5 grain below my max "standard bullet" 165 recipe.

Brad, how did R17 perform when temps got below 10-15F?
Below 0F?

How much velocity did you lose compared to H4350?

I always figured 66 grains(H4350) with 150's, 65 grains with 165's and 64 grains with 180's. For my two WSM's anyway, of course work-up etc..

I would start around 63-64 grains of H4350 and work up until you found accuracy, probably around 3050-3100fps and 65 grains.

RL 17 would be my first choice, I have also had good luck with IMR 4831, 17 is not tenperature sensitive, however can't say the same for IMR 4831.
