You might also consider hunting on Fort Benning. It is probably 2-3 hours north of you, but has a lot of deer and a really good turkey population.
If you bowhunt, I would take a trip to Blackbeard Island in GA while you are over that way. Blackbeard is a pristine NWR that has two bowhunts per year. It's a really unique hunt. You take a boat over to the Island and then hunt for three days. If you have interest pm me and I will tell you more.

Done with some of the schools and have some freedom again. Did see a lot of hog tracks during land nav, didn't see any deer though some others did.
Lot of thick stuff, thinking of getting another bow. That or possibly a ML or shotgun. Starting to look at the opportunities here on Rucker, haven't taken a look outside of it yet.
Good luck to everyone this year!

Everyone has pretty much pointed you in the right direction. Deer Hunting on Ft. Rucker is not nearly as good as it was 20+ years ago. If an acorn hits the ground, a hog is there to vacuum it up. The hog hunting is great.

Good luck with the deer on Ft Benning. You'll see way more pigs than anything, but they can be hunted year round.

Didn't see this mentioned but I've noticed a lot of hunting clubs looking to fill their membership on Craigslist before the season opens. I'm in Montgomery by the way so I've been watching only in this area. Prices vary but it may not hurt to check some of them out.
