I went over that durn lever boss with a 10x loupe. No markings of any kind! The serial # is A2598xx. Can one of you Savage Garus possably tell me about, when this firearm was made?? Thank ya kindly Twink

The LBC didn't go that new... 1970's.

Twinkletoes... welcome to the Forum. According to my records, your rifle #A2598xx was made approximately mid-1969. Your Lever Boss Code should be a "W" together with the inspector's number in front of the "W". Savage ceased using LBCs after 1971 at which time the letter "Y" was the than current and last letter used on LBCs. Strength & Honor... Ron T.

Although sometimes the lever stamp is so light that it's illegible, so there may not be a W.

Thank ya kindly for the Welcome, and the response. I did find a faint circle stamped into the left side of the tang, directly above the LB. 2 #s' of which I could only make out one, and a deffinant W Thank ya fellows Twink
