Right out of the box with Winchester white box ammo, I believe I could hit a tennis ball everytime at 100 yards. The trigger is horrible....

Sounds about right for an off the rack AR15 with FMJ ammo. The 6920 is a good one.

I'd like to put an Aimpoint on it.

The trigger gets a little better with use, I have an LMT lower with their two stage trigger which while a smoother pull does not break as sharp as the colt trigger. I can actually shoot the colt trigger better and am ordering a geislle trigger this week for the LMT, the Colt now has a T1 on it a TLR1S and I am hunting with the DD/LMT this year.

The trigger should get better with use. Glad you like the 6920. It's a good choice.

But you'd still have a Rock River.

Funny someone made fun of me suggesting rock river as better than colt if you had bought rra the trigger would not be a complaint. My apologies. Thing is, there's plenty of folks out there that have had trouble with the RRNM trigger. Enough that a cheap fix is common knowledge but even then it's just serviceable. I use them and I use some stock triggers, they are both designed for two different uses. Though not a target gun, a Colt is well worth the $1000 if you get off the bench and shoot it often. But that's just my opinion and Im sure several folks here get a good laugh from that.

I went with the 6920 because I know what I'm starting out with out of the box. Yes the trigger is kinda heavy and not the best but that can be changed to suit your needs. Everyting else is just as I like it and the only accessory I'll be adding is an light.

Off the bench with the Leupold VX-2 3-9X40 mounted on it, it's a 1/2 MOA rifle. With the factory sights and my eyes off hand it's a tennis ball at 100 yards rifle. I too love the internet.

The Colts really don't shoot that bad, I can get MOA or better out of mine with Sierra 65 Gamekings.

As others have said, shoot it a bunch and the trigger will get better, If it don't get better at least you will learn the trigger and it will be less of an issue.

6920 is a great base model AR. Its not a precision gun, stop whineing about the trigger, go drop some cash on a geissele trigger if you want to.
I'd take a 6920 over ANY RRA model.
(p.s. a 2.5" groups with a bare bones AR is perfectly fine, if you expected more I believe you bought the wrong gun)

According to Swampman it's a 1/2 MOA rifle, bad trigger and all. He's got it figured out.

I have had a few that I would never buy again Bushmaster, RRA, Fulton Armory (silliest mistake yet), Daewoo K2, Mini 14 (3 of those), AK types a few, SKS one of them, then I have had a Colt SP1, Colt LW Sporter without the flash hider, Colt match HBar. The large pin Colt years were stupid, all of mine are gone. Lately there are a lot of good choices, however it is my experience if you overlook the stupidity regards the large pin years the Colt's have always been a pretty good gun. Since 1977 and my first SP-1.
