hey guys just had surgery and wont be able to use my main deer guns for a few weeks and im not about to sit out a month of deer season so ive been lookin to get a smaller caliber rifle to use for a few weeks until i can shoulder my .45-70 or 06 again i dont want to put nearly as much money into this gun as i have in my other hunting rifles so ive been lookin at gettin a rossi wizard in .223 and either leaving it open sights or putting a cheapo scope on it just wondering if any of you guys have had any experiance with these

i ended up buying one killed 2 deer with it but i just didnt like the feel of it and the safety is awful on the side just dont see the point of a safety on a single shot hammer gun but after i sold it i bought a New England .223 and i love it and it groups much better than the rossi did

I also agree that the NEF is a much better gun. I have several and several different calibers, and they all seem to shoot real good. Wallacem in Ga

Have not shot a Wizard but unless it's head and shoulders above the "standard" Rossi rifles, I'd spend the $ on something else. I zero dozens or rifles every season at work and I cringe every time somebody brings in a Rossi for me to attempt to sight in.

Yea it wouldn't group very well when I tried to sight the one I had in no matter what ammo I put thru it I couldn't get better than a 3 inch group but it worked well enough for me For what I needed it for ill never buy another one though ill stick to handi rifles
