I moving to west texas in december and i need help deciding on a rifle to use. I own a 700 7-08 and a 7600 30-06 so far and i was looking to buy a gun that would be the best fit for hunting in that area. im sure the 7-08 could do the job for a lot of stuff but any excuse to buy a new gun is a good one in my book. What do you guys recommend i get first? animals in the area are mule deer, pronghorn, and audad.

You've already got 2 guns that should do most anything you need to do.
That being said, I have enjoyed my 25-06, as I have harvested around 30 whitetails with it. I have tried the 7mm, but I do prefer the subtle touch. I do know you will find the smaller one more accurate with less,- flinch.

.25-06
I've never seen the need for the 7mm rem, but obviously YMMV.

Big 7. The 7-08 will do whatever you want a .270/25-06 to do. Might as well get something that will reach out and touch something. Also, do forget that elk hunt thats being planned.
Aim for the exit hole.

Neither, split the difference with a .270 and eschew everything else. Actually, you could sell the other rifles, and STILL buy a .270, and you wouldn't need anything else.
They all overlap each other anyhow.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

of the 2 you mentioned, i'd get the 7mag.
however, you could sell everything and get a 270 win (find a good load shooting 150gr partitions). one man, one rifle, one texas!

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

In a Ruger m77, right? Well, the one I have is a winchester model 70, but a Ruger m77 would work great as well
