Given the same shot placement , a medium caliber like a 338, 358,366 or 375 or a magnum 27,28 or 30 caliber magnum.

Speed in the small bore magnums can be an instant killer.
That being said, the fastest killer on stateside game that I've ever shot combines both, a .375 cal. 235 gr Speer bullet at 3400+ fps fired from a 378 WBY has to be seen to be believed, it is unexplainable in print.

Nothing compares to an 18 wheeler! Well yeah, but it's hard to carry an 18-wheeler in the woods.

Anything smaller than a tyrranasaurus rex gets plumb kilt daid by a 30-06. 270 is good for field mice and sech! Let the games begin.

Just how many have you killed with an RPG?? I only read about it on the internet... that makes me fully informed. Hilarious, I just sat here and howled with laughter, best retort I have ever read on any gun/hunting forum! That said, the most sudden kill I have ever made and this is from the few dozen animals I have killed on public land in BC-I ain't one of these types who claims scores of kills and have only shot what my wife and I can eat-was a Columbian Blacktail doe shot about 20 years ago. I hit it through both lungs, as I aimed, with my sentimental favourite rifle, a P-64 Alaskan-.338WM, with my load of the 250 NP at a chrono'd 2800 fps-mv and it simply was dead when it hit the ground, quicker than any I have killed with the .270Win., .280 Rem. 7x57, .308Win or ,30-06. Yet, I do not consider this an indication of ANYTHING other than a decent bullet put through both lungs of a deer tends to make it "stop and drop" PDQ. Actually, I seriously doubt that on deer, there really IS any "killing power" difference between the cartridges above or the .300mags. YMMV, of course.

Kills what?
Deer through the lungs? Probably doesn't matter.
Texas heart shot on a Cape buffalo? It matters.
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

A bullet constructed for the exapsnsion, and retention at the velocity you hit somethin' with it.
Placed in the vitals, it works every time.
I take exception to my .358 being considered a medium bore by the way. It's a brute; Chile-maker, Hammer-time, Big KABOOMSKI, Hole in Two, Sh-Sh-Sh-Shaker., etc.
