I head out and shoot these tasty little birds a couple times a year to help local farmers clear them out of their silos. Any of you hunt pigeons? if so do you eat them? whats your favorite recipe? Steve

Yes, I shoot pigeons at three different dairies. Don't bother to eat them though some of the mexicans that work there do. Our shooting is to seriously thin the numbers. I shot 46 at one dairy in one afternoon with a 16 ga. mdl 12 and an oz of 5's. Most fun one can have with a shotgun.

Did it once and for the most part it was some challenging shooting. Have eaten a couple and found them as Redgun stated. Similar to Dove.

I killed a buttload of them as a kid with my trusty Crosman and ate quite a few of them. Couldn't distinguish it from dove. I'd give anything to find a place on the outskirts of town to wingshoot them. Can't imagine anything more fun.

I have been netting them at night to use for training my setter puppy. The pigeon goes into a bird launcher, which we hide and then bring the puppy into the area and let her find and point them. She is nearly ready for shooting-probably next week and a few more birds. I was going to take her to a preserve and buy some pheasants, but maybe I will shoot a few of the pigeons instead and try eating them.

Isn't it refreshing to find something that doesn't taste like chicken! I've eaten a lot of them and they taste like pigeon to me. I don't think they are really pigeons, I think they are called Rock Doves. Wild pigeons aren't found in barns and here, there are seasons on them. I've got a bunch here. Been using them to train dog's for a lot of years. kept the loft at about 40 birds year round years past but down a bit now. gonna build it back up next spring.
