My Dad has a welding an repair business, and he is running out of room, I would like to join the business with him, now the problem is that we are needing a lot more room! Also there is a frac sand processing plant coming in about 2 miles from our house, which means lots and lots of trucks, which also means lots of more work for us. just wondering if someone had any ideas of what it would cost to build a shop maybe 40 x 60, or slightly larger, we don't have lots of access to money, so we are kinda limited as to the size. Also we are well able to finish out the inside, we just need the shell put up and the concrete work done. Any thoughts are appreciated!

All I can tell you is that the shop I have planned for SD is the same size as you specify - 40X60. Part of it (20X40) will have a cement floor, insulated, H/AC and 240 power. Two windows, one door. The rest of the building has two garage doors.. Cost, with driveway, estimated at $70,000 (driveway is about $12-15K..)

I had a Worldwide Steel 40x70x14 erected last fall. All totaled up was right around $70K. Free-span, heated floor, very well insulated, electric and plumbed with hi-bay T5 lighting.
The building kit, door, and concrete were just a little over 30K.

I assume this has been dealt with by building manufacturers but some years ago, we had a rash of insulated metal shop fires around here. A spark would hit the insulation and it would almost explode. Anyone inside had to head for the door at a dead run to get out before it became an inferno. It had something to do with improper installation of spray-on insulation.
