I would double check the lug to make sure it is properly seated, does not matter if it is the OEM or the BC stock. The one time my tikkas took a dump was after I pulled a .270 from the stock and did not properly reseat it. It can be tricky because it feels like it is seated properly but it is very subtle.

How did it shoot before you changed the stock??
I was thinkin the same thing! As in anything else, when you make too many changes at once & things go bad, you don't know which one to point the finger at. Bingo, I'd want to know the following as well. Dober

Didn't blame the shooter...was thinking scope or new stock. I'm a big guy.. 6'2"....280#.... I don't enjoy shooting my t3. 300 win but can get great groups. That 338 has to be a treat when not on the lead sled. Btw mine does shoot good off the ls when I use it.

Kraky.....have you tried a limbsaver pad on your .300 WM. It turned my 7mag recoil into that of a .270 or maybe even softer. Just don't let a limbsaver recoil pad sit on carpeting as it can cause a chemical reaction and ruin it.

I'm going out Sunday to shoot it and will bring a VX-2 to try as well as the factory stock and will let you know what happens. Does any body know what the stock and scopes should be torqued to?

65 in lbs for the stock. Not sure about the scope.

If you bought it used (or not even) maybe it's just very fouled. Fill it with Wipe-Out and let it sit overnight. The patch will probably come out the color of new jeans. Might not be the only problem, but could be one.

243- I have the same gun and had the same problem. I tried some loads that worked in my other 338 and got terrible groups. The reason I bought a tikka was because everybody raved how great they shot but their bedding system can't handle the heavy recoil of the 338. My gunsmith stiffened the stock and bedded it and suddenly I was getting 0.5 inch groups.I am using IMR 4831 and Barnes TSX 210gr and Speer 225gr SPBT. The Barnes shoot a little better. After I got 0.5 inch groups with the barnes I stopped there because it's not enjoyable to shoot and I am a fairly decent sized guy.

All my Tikkas have been finicky but I did manage after more reloading to find a "decent" load. It took a lot of time but keep on it. Powder and seating depth were the biggest factors with my Tikkas.

Well I just spent the morning at my range with the factory stock and a VX-2 and the results were a little better but not great. It is getting 2.75" group and 200 yards which I can live with for know and will use that on my northern Alberta whitetail hunt in another week . The load i picked was 73grs of H-4350 with 225gr SST and chronied 2850 fps. I also tried 6 different loads and that was best. I have a friend that said 215 sgk's worked great in his t3 so will try those after my hunt.

Good luck with it. It can be rewarding and frustrating! If all else fails I would have the gun bedded and start over? Next would be a new barrel.
