I just wanted to run this by the group. Is a K-80 that locks up tight, but opens very easily, OK? It has Kohlar 20,28, and 410 tubes. It is in about 90% with a few scratches and dings. The SN is 21553 I think. THe asking price is $1995

That's the lowest price on a tubed K-80 that I have ever seen. I have shot a K-80 for almost 20 years and it still locks up very tight as they are designed to do. It requires a bit of effort to open mine when cocking the triggers but I would not call it stiff by any means. I also have Kolar tubes and have been very pleased with them.
If you know of a gunsmith who is competent with high-grade target shotguns, it would be a good idea to have him check it out. Do not, however, take it to some ape with a Dremel tool who has never seen a K-80.

That is almost the value of the tubes alone. That gun will sell for aprox. 5K if its at 90%.

I think that I am pointing out the obvious here but if I were in your position, I would want to know the provenance of that shotgun. Nobody wants to buy a stolen firearm.

I know the gent, but not to well. I dont think he is a theif, just a older gent who trades and fiddles with guns. I have bought a few rifles of hime he usually has winchester pre 64's and remington 600's and the like. He said he picked this up from an estate in North Texas. So I bet it is leagal. Anyway I'll check it out.

I just sent my K-80 back to factory last fall and had the annual done to it, tightened up ( welded and recut the hinge points) and reblued the barrels and all the pins, latch, ect. for right at $800. Not cheap but not bad for all the work they did and it looks and opens like new.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Claycrusher- don't know if you have shot with my dad lately but he just had the stock of his K80 refinished - re-cut the checkering.

As to the robust construction of a K80 --- his checkering was literaly worn smoth -- couldn't feel a bump. I am guessing it takes quite a few rounds to wear a nice chunk of walnut that far down.

That price is a steal - provided the gun is legit and such -- send it in , have the anual done and it will last forever.

I haven't seen the new finish - when it was done he called and said it was nice but apparently the color was a bit different - not as orange as before - I said It was the same only clean
