Lesson # 1:
* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000 * Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000 * New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000 * National debt: $14,271,000,000,000 * Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000
Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
* Annual family income: $21,700 * Money the family spent: $38,200 * New debt on the credit card: $16,500 * Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710 * Total budget cuts so far: $3.85
Got It ?????
OK now Lesson # 2: Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:
Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.
What do you think you should do ......
Raise the ceilings, or pump out the crap?

lesson 1 is a powerful example that helps most people get a better handle on just how badly politicians have screwed us.
it would be the rare college age kid making 20K or so that could or would find the discipline to dig their way out of that hole
his best bet is to find a way to start earning 100K and living on a strict budget.
for the gov't to earn that 100K they'd effectively have to increase taxes by a multiple of 5. Thus pretty much killing our economy.
they've sold us down the river. imho nothing gets fixed till we start chasing them with tar and feathers instead of arguing which ones we're going to vote for.
it's despicable what they've done to our children's future, and the irony is so much of the time their mantra for doing so is "it's for the children"
but with that said, I'm off to go vote for Romney and Ryan, if there's a way out of this situation, I see those two as having the brains to get started.
I've seen what the other side has to offer.
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

A household budget like this would usually result in bankruptcy.
It's a kick the can down the road mentality.

A household budget like this would usually result in bankruptcy, foreclosure, unemployment, divorce, and prison.
It's a kick the can down the road mentality. tweaked it for a fuller, more accurate reality.

Truly disgusting. Harry Reid, thanks again NRA for supporting him, has not passed a budget in over 3 years. Should be illegal to run the biggest economy in the world without a budget.
