Ran across an older model 700 BDL 30-06 with 22" barrel, seems to be in pretty good shape, guy wants 389.00$ Does this seem like a fair price?

Sounds like a fair deal if it's in decent shape.

Up here they go in the mid $400s to low $500s depending on condition.

It's worth that strictly as a donor. So yes it's a good deal.

A new Rem 700 BDL goes for $800 so a used one, in pretty good shape, for under $400, would be a great price.

Thanks everybody. I thought it was a pretty good price. It is in decent shape doesn't look as if it has been used much. I don't really need it, but if it's still there on Friday when I go there, I will probably pick it up. I don't know what the serial # starts with, all I know is it has sights on it, a 22" barrel and a wood stock and hinged floorplate. One thing I did notice was the follower in the magazine looked like it was chrome-plated or something. Looked a little different than my other model 700's.

Yes, I'm sick, it was too much for me to pass up, I think it is a disease, I just love guns! The serial# starts with a "C" for whatever that means. Took it apart and it looks pretty clean no rust, had fun trying to get the magazine back into the stock properly. I'll find out how it shoots soon. Worse case senario I could re-barrel it in just about any cartridge I could use.

I think you got a good deal on that rifle. Saw two Rem 700 BDL at a gun show this weekend. Both priced at $500 + and both used hard.
